I have met with many questions and confusion about the difference between juice and smoothie, so I present the differences:
- What you need: 1 juicer, ½ to 1 kilo of your favorite vegetables.
- My juicer
Advantages: Juicing is great because it takes all the water and nutrients from vegetables, leaving apart the fibers of the plant. This means your body is better able to absorb the nutrients without having to digest the densest part of the plant. Also, you can fit an incredible quantity of vegetables into a single glass of green juice, leaving you with simple, smooth, but nutritious and delicious shot of a hit!
Disadvantages: Although I do not see it as a disadvantage, the extractors can be very expensive and difficult to maintain. They should be cleaned after each use to prevent rusting. Having saved enough fresh vegetables, organic juices to make daily can also be expensive. Although very rich in nutrients and vitamins, juices fill you up for a short period of time because your body processes the liquid very quickly. Finally, note that although green juices are usually low in sugar, store bought juices can have a very high glycemic load and can cause imbalances in blood sugar. Make your own juice at home.
And please, these "disadvantages", you curb to make, really benefits you get from them are well worth the investment, I promise.
- What you need: Juicer, 1 to 2 cups of your favorite vegetables, 1 cup ice.
- blender
Advantages: The biggest advantage to make smoothies is that the only equipment required is relatively inexpensive - a blender. Smoothies tend to fill up a bit more since the plant fibers are present (but still easier to digest compared with consuming raw vegetables.)
Disadvantages: May not see it as a disadvantage compared to the juice, your body will have to work a little harder to digest and absorb nutrients. Also, because it's hard to put all that large volume of vegetables in blender. Using a high quality blender like a Vitamix, Ninja or Nutribullet you will get softer, more pleasing smoothies, but the price is much more expensive to an extractor.
You can also add them to smoothies superfoods such as maca, cacao, goji berries, hemp seeds (hemp), spirulina, etc.
Both juices and smoothies you can add fruit, just keep in mind that the more fruit you put more sugar enters your body, so it is IMPORTANT that your juice and your smoothie has more vegetables and less fruit.
The bottom line is that when it comes to green drinks, whether you prefer juice or smoothies, and you will not go wrong nourished. Just choose your favorite and make them into juice. Your body will thank you!
If you have any questions or comments, please do, I'd love to hear it.
